The Phrygian (or “Thracian”) Helmet evolved from a cap that was commonly worn by Phrygian and Thracian people. This helmet is similar to the Chacidian-Type Helmet, except it includes a brim over the eyes and ears for protection, and a nose-guard. The cheek pieces on this helmet would typically be very long, and well decorated. The Phrygian/Thracian-Type Helmet gained increasing popularity from the 5th Century BC on (Connolly, 63).
