The Kegelhelm is the oldest Iron-Age Greek helmet known to date. The helmet was essentially a cone-shaped piece of bronze (Hence the creative German name meaning, “cone”) that was made of multiple pieces. While this helmet was the inspiration for many of the Greek’s later helmets, it died out during the 8th century (60).
